Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
- Heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the green chilies and cook for 1 minute more.
- Add the tomato puree and water to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the marinated chicken to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20–25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Stir in the Kasuri methi (if using) and heavy cream. Simmer for 1–2 minutes more.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve with rice or naan.
